Porthos’ transport pipelines will be integrated into the expanded Moezelweg pipeline corridor.

Porthos is developing a project to transport CO2 from Rotterdam’s industrial sector and store it in depleted North Sea gas fields.

For the expansion, a ProRail railway line was relocated, and retaining structures were installed, followed by excavation of the railway embankment.

In the second phase, main contractor Van Halteren Infra installed two sheet piling walls.

The port also revealed that they worked closely with ProRail during the project.

Porthos is the first to use the new pipeline corridor, and it will soon install the CO2 pipeline.

Recently, the Port of Rotterdam Authority released its 2024 annual report, which highlighted an 11 per cent increase in gross investments, reaching €320.6 million ($348.7 million).
